In WP3, host-microbe and microbial interactions will be studied in detail for the selected systems described in WP1 and WP2, with the purpose of identifying microbes and small communities and their biosynthetic gene clusters (BGCs) that aid in host protection and to identify the relevant novel biosynthetic diversity.
Obtaining insights into the metatranscriptome of disease-suppressive systems and correlate BGCs to bioactivity.
Identify elicitors that activate the production of cryptic compounds.
Unravel the regulatory networks and regulatory elements that control cryptic BGCs for prediction of their elicitation.
Initial assessment of candidate molecules via molecular networking.
