An immersive exhibition was launched to celebrate Micro Day in Leiden, the EU City of Science 2022. The microscopy exhibition organised by the MARBLES project, Institute of Biology (Leiden University) and Rijksmuseum Boerhaave was held in the museum from 22-24 October 2022.

Visitors could participate in several activities. With both replicas of a Van Leeuwenhoek microscope and a modern microscope on display so that people could look at different insect- and bacteria plates. Children also had the opportunity to 'see how well they wash their hands' by pressing their fingers onto agar plates to see whether microbes would grow!

Learn more about the exhibition and see some photos here.
