Gilles van Wezel Appointed Member of the KHMW

MARBLES’ Coordinator Gilles van Wezel, professor of Molecular Biotechnology at Leiden University, has been appointed as a member of the Koninklijke Hollandsche Maatschappij der Wetenschappen or 'Royal Netherlands Society of Sciences' (KHMW). Founded in 1752, the KHMW is the oldest ‘Learned society’ in the Netherlands and is dedicated to promoting science and strengthening the connection between science and society. This is achieved, among other things, by awarding scientific prizes, organising competitions, and holding lectures and symposia.
Membership is extended to individuals who have made exceptional contributions to their fields. As part of the KHMW community, Gilles will join a distinguished network of scholars and societal leaders engaged in advancing scientific dialogue through prizes, lectures, debates, symposia and publications.
His appointment reflects both his scientific achievements and his commitment to fostering broader engagement with biotechnology research. Congratulations Gilles!
