Deep Dive is a series that takes a deep look at the latest research from scientists at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, USA. In this episode, Scripps Director Margaret Leinen speaks with marine microbiologist Dr. Paul Jensen, who is also a valued member of the MARBLES Scientific Advisory Board.

Paul is a professor of marine biology in the Center for Marine Biotechnology and Biomedicine at Scripps in San Diego. His lab addresses fundamental questions such as what kinds of marine natural products are produced by marine microbes, where the microbes live, why they make the natural products and how we can use them for useful purposes including drug discovery.
