Fifth Session of the Intergovernmental Conference on BBNJ (BBNJ IGC-5)
Drop-in Session to Discuss Issues on the BBNJ Treaty: 20 August 2022 at 10:00-16:00 (EDT). An open forum focused on discussing and exploring more technical questions you may have on the BBNJ Treaty. A range of experts in science, law and social science (and more) will be on hand to engage with you and discuss your questions. Questions can be submitted on this Google Sheet which may be anonymous if preferred (use the QR code below). Questions can be asked at any time up to the event and can also be asked on the day.
Timing of Topics – the main focus will be on these, but questions on any of the other parts of the treaty may also be discussed:
10:00-11:30 – MGR and sharing of benefits
11:30-13:00 – ABMTs and MPAs
13:00-14:30 – EIAs
14:30-16:00 – CB/TMT
Experts will be drawn from the UK DEFRA DEEPEND and EU MARBLES projects as well as IUCN and DOSI delegations.
